New Balance And Brand Athletes To Donate Over $1 Million In Sneakers For COVID-19 Front Line Workers

New Balance and its family of athletes are donating more than $1 million worth of footwear to medical workers on the front line of COVID-19 across New England and St. Louis, MO.

The joint donation – which taps Milos Raonic, Sydney McLaughlin and other Team New Balance athletes – will deliver 13,000 pairs of footwear to thank the healthcare community risking its well-being throughout the pandemic. Nurses, doctors and other medical professionals will receive shoes that comply with new comfort and support guidelines. Associates in New England area include Mass General Hospital, Brigham & Women’s Hospital and Stephens Memorial Hospital; in St. Louis, Missouri Baptist and Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

“[W]e are being tested,” says Milos Raonic, Team New Balance tennis athlete. “I am grateful for the ability to partner with my family at New Balance to show my gratitude to these heroes.”

The Boston-based brand’s $1 million-in-sneakers donation comes a month after it announced that it was working with local hospitals to produce more than 100,000 face masks for general-use per week. This FDA-compliant personal protective equipment (PPE) is currently being produced in New Balance’s two factories in Lawrence, MA and Norridgewock, ME.
