Although it celebrated its milestone 25th Anniversary last year, the Reebok Instapump Fury has utilized 2020 to sport some of its boldest, co-signed outfits yet. As recently evidenced by a wild makeovers courtesy of atmos and PHANTACi, the Steven Smith-designed silhouette is ending the year with a consortium run across Asia, a region that’s fully embraced it. And for its next stop, the model has landed in China’s Sichuan Province to pay local sneaker boutique DEAL and fashion agency NSC (Never Stop Creating) a visit.
Widely known for its spicy food, the southwestern Chinese province is also home to giant pandas and traditional opera. Currently Chengdu, Sichuan’s old capital was ShuDu (“Shu” refers to the province, while “Du” means “capital). The city’s unique charm and temperament come to life on the Instapump Fury‘s latest collaboration via both the vibrant palette and graphics featured across each shoe. A giant panda graces the left shoe’s lateral side while the right shoe depicts hot pot, a game of mahjong and flora. Elsewhere, Pump mechanisms alternate hues, just as heel construction and accents. Outsoles on the beloved-across-Asia sneaker deliver some uniformity underneath an all-white midsole.
