When Disney+ dropped the first season of The Mandalorian last year, there was one member of the show that stole the hearts of many viewers due to his miniature size and mysterious powers — The Child aka Baby Yoda. And with the Star Wars series’ second batch of episodes set to commence on October 30th, adidas is partnering up with the galaxy far, far away on a four-pronged footwear collection inspired by the furry and extremely meme-able character.
Two of the entries involved the retro basketball adidas Top Ten Hi. The first take is inspired by the floating pod in which he spends most of his time resting. Creamy white leather uppers represent the futuristic carrier, while brighter toned accents of “Glory Mint” translate Yoda’s skin, and the pink interior liners reflect the color of his interior ears. The second iteration comes packaged with a palette influenced by his outfit. Uppers are predominantly hued with shades of tan and dark brown which are emblematic of The Child’s robe-like garment, and are paired next to minty green ankle collars/throat overlays.
Up next is the adidas Superstar, which is simply reliant on a trio of tones to outfit its entirety. “Linen Green”, which nods to the character’s natural complexion leads the way along a majority of its upper, while neutral tones of black play supportive roles and wrap additional areas such as the stripe branding, shell toes, and sole units. An icon of The Child himself lands on the lateral heels along with the phrase “The force is strong with this little one”, and the heels are embossed with the number 50 to nod to the Superstar’s anniversary.
Lastly, the modern-day adidas NMD R1 is influenced by the ever-calm and balancing universe that the young alien species finds within himself. Somewhat similarly-executed to the aforementioned Top Ten Hi sibling, it is dressed up with that of creamy uppers and color-blocked with notes of pastel greens across the stripes, in addition to the “Find Your Way” text hits atop the tongues. This pair deviates from the rest in its own playful manner as well as its customary midsole blocks are ornamented with speckled wallpaper.
You can see a closer look at each installment here ahead, and expect them to drop via adidas.com come November 4th from $80-100 USD.
For other news, the Yeezy 380 Calcite Glow is set to release this weekend.
