The adidas UltraBOOST 21 hasn’t been officially announced by the Three Stripes, but it’s beginning to emerge in both official and unofficial images. The model’s inaugural colorway–a “Footwear White/Core Black/Solar Yellow” option–is currently scheduled to debut on February 4th.
At a glance, the silhouette is familiar to its 2015 iteration, but closer inspection reveals noteworthy updates. For starters, the BOOST cushioning it helped popularize among casual consumers has been redesigned to deliver six percent more foam than previous offerings. The increased cushioning enables improved comfort and a “bouncier” ride–whether training or traversing urban landscapes. As with other propositions under adidas‘ umbrella, the lightweight PRIMEKNIT+ top-half is constructed from PRIMEBLUE, a high-performance yarn containing at least 50% recycled Parley Ocean Plastic. Hits of “Solar Yellow” across the “Footwear White” upper nod to the Three Stripes’ performance-running heritage, having recently emerged on the adizero adios Pro “Sunrise Bliss.”
Underfoot, Continental rubber’s application has been reimagined around the Torsion bar-replacing adidas LEP (Linear Energy Push) technology. The wishbone-reminiscent structure delivers a 15% increase in forefoot-bending stiffness from previous solutions, which deliver extra propulsion. Together, the more robust BOOST midsole, stretch web tread and adidas LEP reenergize the UltraBOOST franchise.
Enjoy official images of the shoes here below, and expect pairs to hit adidas.com on February 4th with the $180 USD price tag of predecessors.
