The Cool Grey Air Jordan XI was somewhat of an aberration to Jordan shoes; the color grey has no immediate ties to Jordan Brand or any of the expected Chicago Bulls colors, although the neutral color was widely used as a trim to help break away from the typical black/red/white color-blocking. Nevertheless, the Cool Grey XI was widely popular and sold out immediately upon its release in 2001. This colourway spawned a number of other Cool Grey variations, notably in the Air Jordan III, Air Jordan IV, and Air Jordan IX. Being the only release of its kind, dubbing it an oxymoronic “original retro” is fitting, and finding a deadstock pair is easier said than done. Pics via Kixclusive.
