After the wide success of the Air Jordan XI, the Air Jordan XII was officially released in November of 1996. The “Taxi” colorway of the XII was the first colorway to release, and it gained the “Taxi” nickname due to the aptly colored carbon fiber spring-plate on the midsole. Michael Jordan wore this colorway during the regular season along with the White/Red Air Jordan XII. In 2003, a low-top version of the Taxi XII was released, and in 2009, the original mid version was made available as part of the Air Jordan XI/XII Collezione Package.
