Ja Morant
Ja Morant is an All-Star basketball player for the Memphis Grizzlies. In 2019, he signed a multi-year endorsement deal with Nike Basketball, and in April 2023, his initial signature shoe officially launched. Ja is described as Nike’s first Gen-Z athlete; his first shoes — the Ja 1 — were moderately priced at $110 and were designed by Ben Nethongkome.
His season-ending injury in 2023-24 made a sequel more complicated, and the Nike Ja 1 stretched its lifespan a bit longer than the typical 12 months. First looks at the Ja 2 emerged in July, carrying a higher cut than its predecessor and pronounced ripples around the Swoosh on the upper.
The Nike Ja 2 debuted with the Ja 2 “Induction” in September, bringing a public release for a PE gifted to him at his Murray State Hall of Fame celebration. Additional colorways include the “Day Dreamer,” “Night Vision,” “Halloween” and “Christmas.”
