The Air Jordan 6 “Olympic” Could Return Fall 2024

The Olympic 6s from 2000 could be returning Fall 2024.

Nike, Inc. has yet to tease details about the commemorative Air Jordan 6, but longtime leakers Sneaker Files and @zSneakerHeadz have recently taken to social media to share the information. In addition to both parties’ reliable track record, the rumor that the Olympic 6s could return next year are fueled by the fact that a lot of attention has already been paid to Paris 2024 in light of a poor performance by Team USA at the men’s FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023. Furthermore, the “Olympic” outfit landed on the Air Jordan 6 Low Golf earlier this month, acting as a sort of appetizer for the full-on retro.

Both takes feature a full leather build across the upper, differing from the nubuck found on the “Infrared” style most often associated with the Air Jordan 6. “Midnight Navy” takes on panels at the forefoot and across the profiles à la “Carmine” color-blocking. Tongues and sportscar-inspired heel clips follow suit, as do various components throughout the sole unit. Elsewhere, “Varsity Red” flair animates lace toggles and non-“Nike Air” text at the spine, another difference on the Olympic 6s from the original run of Tinker Hatfield’s fourth design for #23.

The Jordan 6 “Olympic” first released during a time when Jordan Brand launched fewer styles throughout the year. “His Airness” didn’t lace up the pair when it hit the hardwood at the Sydney Games in 2000, but Ray Allen did. The sneaker returned in 2012 in time for the London Olympics, marking the 20th anniversary of M.J.’s dominant appearance with the 1992 Dream Team in Barcelona. As with other special “Remastered” projects from Nike, Inc., it’s likely the next reissue of the “White/Varsity Red/Midnight Navy”-colored Air Jordan will follow the original shoe’s blueprint faithfully – and rightfully so given its importance to Michael Jordan’s first NBA title three-peat.

Olympic 6s: Release Date & Price

Stay tuned for more details on the possible Olympic 6s retro as Fall 2024 inches closer (the Games are scheduled from July 26th to August 11th, 2024). The pair should hit the Nike SNKRS app with a price of $200 USD. Sizes for kids should also arrive and at prices ranging from $160 to $85.
