Nike LeBron 9

The Nike LeBron 9 is the ninth signature sneaker of LeBron James and is designed by Nike Basketball Footwear Designer Jason Petrie. This sneaker launched in limited releases on October 8th in the ‘Cannon’ colorway and later in wider distribution in the ‘Kentucky’  and ‘Black/Red’ colorway, retailing at $170. The primary tech specs of the LeBron 9 is the visible Max Air on the heel with large-volume Zoom Air at the forefoot, and also boasts the distinction of being the first-ever Nike shoe with Hyperfuse material and Flywire technology. The LeBron 9 also release in a Low version as well as a $250 Elite version in April, 2012.

While the previous eight LeBron signature models arrived right at the start of a fresh and new NBA season, the LeBron 9 didn’t see on-court action until late December due to the NBA lock-out. Without seeing the LeBron 9 on the feet of the superstar player they were designed for, how would the sneaker gain any momentum? LeBron James and several other NBA players headed an unofficial series of star-studded charity basketball games around the nation, with LeBron personally debuting the ‘Cannon’ colorway at the South Florida Classic game.

During the shortened NBA season, LeBron played in a number of different version and Player Exclusives and debuted the Nike LeBron 9 Elite at the start of the 2012 NBA Playoffs. During the Finals, LeBron flashed a Red/Gold/Black PE of the Elite, which would later release as part of the extremely limited Nike LeBron 9 ‘Championship/MVP’ Pack. The LeBron 9 closed out its cycle with the ‘Liverpool’ colorway of the Low, which released in early September.
