This colourway of the Air Jordan XI gets its nickname from the movie “Space Jam”, which starred Michael Jordan, Bugs Bunny, and a number of other NBA Superstars and Warner Bros. animated characters. In the movie, Michael Jordan wore this colourway of the Air Jordan XI in the final match-up to save his and the cartoons’ lives against the Monstars. While these aren’t an original colourway, the Space Jam Jordan 11 stands as one of the most sought-after Air Jordan XIs in history; Not many pairs in pristine condition are available, but a deadstock pair will fetch more than any other pair of Jordan XI. On December 23, 2009, the Spacejam XI was finally retroed after a decade of anticipation and is without a doubt the biggest Jordan release since the original DMP in January of 2006. This colourway was also one of just two Air Jordan XI that was retroed that year.

December 23rd is a Wednesday. These sneakers will never release on a weekday. They will definitely be changed again at some point just like the Air Jordan 11/12 CDP did last year.

Shaun, the original Air Jordan XI Space Jam released on a Wednesday back in December 2000. Now, I’m not sure which specific date it was, but I know it was the first three weeks of December, ‘cos I was 16 and a junior in HS when I went to cop those during a snowstorm. It was kinda risky, but no one else had ventured out to get them, so instead of waiting for them in the morning, I just waited for school to get let out early and then scooped ‘em mid-afternoon.
Back in those days (MJ’s second NBA run), all Air Jordan in-season releases dropped on Saturday, with secondary colours like the Indiglo XIVs and all lowtops releasing on Wednesdays. I know because I copped nearly all of the Air Jordan XII-XIV models on drop day.
Back then, retros all dropped on Wednesdays. This was a problem for me earlier in high school when I couldn’t drive and had to rely on older friends, parents or friends’ parents to get to the closest Foot Locker, etc (about 45 min. drive). I distinctly remember giving a friend of mine ~$120 on a Wednesday morning in spring 1999 to cop me the white/cement AJIV retro, but he got grounded and instead of a good investment, my money got returned.
Anyway, I buy most of my kicks online these days, so not sure about today (especially since we see so many, including these, released early), but at the height of my Air Jordan fandom, it was always a Wednesday or Saturday affair.

Haha whoever leaked the original info tricked all of us. Well, this can probably be an advantage for me. December 23 is 3 days after my birthday, so Ima either get a late birthday present or just have extra funds to get the SJs. This will be great.

I was givin two pairs from nike (my dads a CEO for the basketball branch) and when I recived them they were dope but I wore one pear to school and then went to open gym and there is a small rip now in the tounge. And I have just about all the retros and cdps and these are just ass quality!
