Last year the Jordan VI retro quickly became the most anticipated release for early 2010, despite the fact that the Jays donned Varsity Red rather than the favorite Infrared. It was a huge blow when word recently got out that JB would, in fact, release a Jordan VI Infrared Package later this year. We can see how several ways this will affect our readers; some will try to sell their Varsity Reds now to make way for the Infrareds, some might say ‘screw it’ and still cop anyway, while others will feel the upcoming limited release of the Infrareds won’t be worth the hassle. All reasonable and plausible scenarios.
However, some are taking their own stand and simply changing their VR’s into Infrareds themselves. Word got out about a specific craft marker that, when applied, produces a quite accurate (and quite permanent) Infrared effect. With patience and a steady hand, these Jordan 6 owners solved their own dilemmas by spending only an extra 3 bucks. One person even tried the inverted look by coloring the entire midsole using the traditional Angelus paint. Take a look at the photos; the alterations look quite clean and alluring to try oneself. via NT.

Stitched Jumpman? Lace toggle? Insoles? Doesn't fix all that…a pig in lipstick is still a pig…

LOL what kind of lames would do this
April 27th, 2010 at 11:28 pm
Where could I pick this up at? Seriously considering using this on my varsity reds. Shoot this looks closer to the original Infareds than the new one’s JB is coming out with!
April 27th, 2010 at 11:48 pm
Ha nice think ill be doing that
April 28th, 2010 at 12:34 am
No no no aww wrong
April 28th, 2010 at 5:44 am
The difference to me is that you are trying to pass your v-reds off as Infareds. But if it works for you then go on ahead. I'd rather just get the real deal myself. But if that's how you get down then get like Devin The Dude & do what the f*ck you wann a do. Peace

How stupid.. Talk about caught up in the hype.. That is what this is all about hypebeast’s.. Its a real simple solution to this whole arguement.. cop both.. Monsta?
April 28th, 2010 at 9:47 am
if you say you a Jordanhead then y not just buy the da pack and have both pairs .
April 28th, 2010 at 5:05 pm
I STARTED ALL OF THIS….I by no means am a hypebeast and if you know anything about sneakerculture we have been painting and customizing our shoes since the 70's! I simply hate the varsity red VI's but i have always loved the VI's style and I intentionally wanted to color my blk/red 1's jumpman red (on the heel) but it came out too bright that it looked infrared so I looked at my Varsity Reds and the rest is history…the marker is called Garden Craft its permanent, water proof, it wont peel off, or crack. You can buy it at Michaels craft store.HOWEVER if you use any hardcore chemicals to clean your shoes they will rub off…. I still wanna buy the infrared pack. Its just to me walkin around in those varsity reds made me feel like i was wearing fakes cuz thats how they look to me.
April 28th, 2010 at 3:24 pm
now ya shits fake buddy
April 28th, 2010 at 7:35 pm
Umm Whos faking the funk? Im not…i simply HATE varsity red 6's in my opinion… To me they look like fakes and I dont care that they came from the Jordan Brand Factory. its pure garbage..Im an OG head i had the original Infrared 6 back in 1991 and when those hideous varsity reds came out it was ridiculous… But im a big big fan of the 6 so regardless I copped em. I been into customizing MY shoes which is nothing new in sneaker culture..AND I am not walking around posing saying that these are infrared 6's from the pack (that hasnt came out yet) I tell heads straight up I bought this marker and I painted them…why? Cuz im not a fan of the varsity red colorway…POINT BLANK… Why am I faking the funk homie?? I have 2 pairs of 2000 infrareds that I still rock so whats your point?? I rock these custom varsity reds cuz i dont really care much about this shoe i can wear em daily for all i care…JORDAN BRAND if you are reading this…JUST DO IT THE RIGHT ORIGINAL WAY!… Im still coppin the infrared pack as well (cuz i love the 6's) it aint about being broke its called "its my shoe and i can do whatever I want to do to it son"…. word
April 28th, 2010 at 6:12 pm
awww come on this is the most ridiculous thing ever, can you say HYPEBEAST everybody knows you dont customize jordans…..
April 29th, 2010 at 12:44 pm
Im on day 4 wearing these custom vreds 6 AND still no cracking no peeling…They even got wet in the rain…still in immaculate condition. As long as you don't step on a puddle of windex or any abrehsive harsh chemical you all good. Oh and by the way this Infrared Pack is an overseas international release! You can thank Gentry Humphrey for that…. Jordan Brand has failed over and over again to not give us consumers what we want….Take a stand and start coloring!..
April 30th, 2010 at 3:10 am
Vreds are WACK to begin with…everytime i see people wearing them they look like they came from a flea market!!… I simply changed something that I dont like and I dont like Vreds..Plain and simple..dont hate on me …you fuckers just settle for less while me…its my big middle finger to Jordan Brand!! Day 5 tommarrow and so far i still dont have to touch em up… haha
May 1st, 2010 at 1:09 am
The color isn’t bad. But did he realize that the tongue symbol and heel tab are still Varsity Red?
May 1st, 2010 at 6:40 am
The heel tab is painted too bud… jumpman on the toungue really doesnt make a huge difference
May 1st, 2010 at 7:25 am
oh snap! damn thats a good idea. i would have to wait until they go on sale to do that though. lmao
May 2nd, 2010 at 2:42 am
what are you taking a stand or something who cares if they do that.
May 3rd, 2010 at 10:00 pm
You dont speak for all sneakerheads buddy…If some of us dont like what JB gives us we have every right to take measures in our own hands. Its our shoe once we pay the cash for it. It dont make us fake,a hypebeast or what ever you call it. Its called freedom. Freedom to do what we want and make it look the right way to ourselves. So if you say its one thing to customize its another to alter…is it legit that i paint the sole of my 99 blk/red iv sole white so it looks more newer? Its piss yellow and I used same marker but white and it looks brand spanking new! Does that make me less of a real sneakerhead? NO I dont think so..point is I love shoes and want em to last for as long as possible. You can alter anything you dont like. Not all "sneakerheads" thrive on exclusive rare materials like you said…they just plain old HYPEBEAST…word
September 7th, 2010 at 9:02 pm
how do you get the marker off?
February 23rd, 2011 at 4:33 am
Honestly i don't see the difference.
