Reebok, the official outfitter of the NFL, has created special colorways of its on-field gear (cleats, gloves) with patriotic red/white/blue detailing to pay tribute to those that perished and risked their lives during the 9/11 attacks. This Sunday, which is also the opening Sunday for the 2011 NFL Season, is the tenth Anniversary of the tragic event, which has heightened awareness and emotion in memory of the U.S. saddest events in history. Some NFL players like Lance Briggs and Chris Cooley have tweeted that they were informed about a monetary fine for wearing the commemorative 9/11 NFL Gear provided by Reebok, citing team uniform guidelines. The NFL also has its own plans of observing the milestone date, but players have voiced their discomfort with potentially being fined for what they deem is an honorable gesture, and some have defiantly welcomed the penalty as a worthy price to pay to show respect for those affected during the attacks. Do you think the NFL should stick to its guns, or is fining players for wearing 9/11 gear a bit excessive, regardless of league uniform guidelines? Check out all the different Reebok 9/11 NFL Gear below and let us know what you think. via Yahoo!.

That's just flat out stupid on the NFL's part. They have a uniform policy, yet they let the players wear pink gloves, cleats, wristbands etc. throughout breast cancer awareness month. They should allow the players to honor those who lost their lives and those who gave their lives, as well as show appreciation to the those who put their own lives at risk to save others.

Roger is whacked out of his mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know it's the NFL (No Fun League), but I would be shocked if they actually fine a guy for paying a tribute to the people who lost their lives on 9/11. On a positive note, Reebok is out next season and Nike is in!!

No one should watch a game on 9-11-11 if they are going to fine players.

Exactly!! You can wear pink for Breast Cancer but you can't rep the countries colors to honor those lost? Wow… that is dumb!.. on a whole new level.

Nike is going to turn uniforms into clown outfits. Out of all the Oregon unis only a couple are even remotely good looking.
And the NFL isn't fining anyone for wearing this stuff. How about getting some facts before you jump. You may find out the water is not as deep as you think.

I doubt it, at the end of the day the team's organization will have to approve of the uniforms and Pro sports teams don't change jersey schemes every year like they do in college. I think that the major difference will be the quality of the uniforms in Nike's favor.

The words "Quality" and "nike" shouldnt be used in the same sentence… now the word "quantity"… that fits "nike".

If these guys have big enough hearts for wearing pink for Breast Cancer Reasearch, they are all the larger for displaying their support, compassion, defiance and pride for those deeply affected by the attacks. And we ALL were affected. Thank you Reebok and NFL players.
