In June of 1996, the Charlotte Hornets drafted a young Kobe Bryant straight out of high school with the 13th pick in that year’s NBA Draft. He was then promptly shipped off to Los Angeles for Vlade Divac in what can now be viewed as one of the worst trades in NBA history. To either commemorate the moment in Kobe’s career, or to rub some more salt in the wounds of Hornets fans, Nike will be releasing a Charlotte Hornets-inspired Draft Day edition of the Zoom Kobe IV. The kicks feature a white upper with purple and teal highlights and the date “6-11-96” printed on the ankle section of the heel. The Draft Day Zoom Kobe IV is expected to hit select retailers in July, but it seems that some stores have them in stock already, so you might want to start hunting. Via NT.
