Classics Revisited Nike Swift 05

Back in the early to mid 90’s, there were a lot of Nike Basketball shoes that were closely associated with a particular NBA star, but only a handful of players like Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley and Penny Hardaway actually had their models named after them. If someone brought up the David Robinsons or the Jason Kidds or the Gary Paytons, you’d probably know that they were likely talking about the Air Command Force, the Zoom Flight 95 or the Zoom Flight 98 even though they don’t have the players’ names officially indicated. Scottie Pippen is another player that falls into this category. Before he was given his own signature Nike model in 1997, he was best known for rocking the Air More Uptempo, but prior to that, there was another shoe that was unofficially dubbed the Scottie Pippens.

The Nike Air Swift was a Flight model worn by Scottie for the better part of the 1993-1994 season and it may have captured his style on the court better than any of the Air Pippen designs that followed it. A sleek, lightweight shoe that mirrored the versatile small forward’s slashing mentality, the Air Swift sported a undeniable Bulls color scheme with a combination of nubuck and smooth leather on the upper and cut-out areas that revealed the neoprene sockliner underneath. The streamlined upper sits atop a fresh midsole design featuring a small Flight logo and a visible Air window. Definitely an underrated classic from the Nike b-ball archive, check out a thorough look at the Nike Air Swift in crisp SneakerNews HD style.
