The Air Jordan XI is famous for introducing both patent leather and carbon fiber shank plates to basketball sneakers, but undoubtedly the former gets more attention than the latter. Typically, the only way to see the AJXI’s carbon fiber plate would be to pray you can see it from the medial side (or turning the shoe upside down would work just fine), but what if it played a more prominent role in the legendary sneaker’s design? Picking up where Sole Collector’s dope CMFT 11s left off, this Air Jordan XI ‘Concord’ was spotted during the NBA All-Star weekend with the ultralight, ultra-strong material in place of patent leather on the mudguard. Now that we’ve seen a ’45’ sample and these bad boys, is getting the OG Concord as a retro release for the holiday season still the best of all possible worlds?
