The term ‘Nike Elite’ came to identify a top-tier team-oriented basketball initiative in the US in recent years, with a similar phrase applied to football for the Euro market. But serious Swoosh historians would have you recall that this was also a name for one of the early waffle-soled Nike runners, and in just a few months they’ll be able to point them out to you in the flesh. The Nike Elite SI is coming back for Q2 with three new colorways whose simple palettes echo the spirit of ’76 during when they were born. Each one combines a micro-grain leather with mesh side panels, the kind of look that screams ‘classic’, yet stands out enough from the huge lot of suede retros enough to warrant some special attention.
