In light of the return of the Obsidian XII this June, we’ve come to realize that the species known as the “un-retroed Air Jordan” is growing closer and closer to extinction. However, it’s become clear that for every OG to re-release, Jordan Brand introduces an all-new colorway to create it’s own legend – like the Stealth and Old Royal X following the original Chicago version and the Cool Grey XII preceding the Obsidian release. It’s been fifteen years since we last saw the Obsidians, although 2003’s low-top held it down for a bit, appeasing one group while making the wait even more unbearable for the other. This June, all that will be resolved, because the Air Jordan XII ‘Obsidian’, one of the last few untouched OGs, officially crosses over to the Retro pool.
