Don Johnson was expertly cast as Kenny Powers’ father for the second and third seasons of HBO’s brilliant Eastbound & Down, and just like series lead Danny McBride, Johnson was once singularly associated with a TV character that defined a generation. James ‘Sonny’ Crockett will forever be remembered for how his rolled-sleeved blazers mirrored early ’80s new wave culture, and now this aesthetic returns as a showpiece for a guy who’s probably the most famous Miami resident. The ‘South Beach’ Nike LeBron 9 P.S. Elite gives us that pastel look Miami Vice made famous, but whereas last year’s monster hit Eights went for an overwhelming burst of color, these present their time capsule offering blended with grey.
