Vans is known, among other contributions to the skateboarding canon, for their signature Waffle vulcanized sole, which most often appears in white with a black pinstripe. That foxing band has been stripped out on several recent releases in favor of a ‘cleaner’ sole, though this new Vans Vault Slip-On ‘Nomad Rand’ has a little something to stand out. The nickname refers to a quilted strip stitched around the union of sole and upper, and the contrasting suede looks great against an oxford-woven upper in blue, tan or grey.
