Revive‘s latest custom remixed the New Balance 1500 into a Technics transformer, and though his latest is an entirely different kind of reference, it does indeed hearken back to the foundations of hip-hop. Just as rap and punk genres rose in the late ’70s, a hippie-rejecting aggression was channeled into a new breed of intense action films, few of which stood out more at the time than Ridley Scott’s Alien franchise. The sequel featured the Power Loader exoskeleton that’s been made into one of this year’s most meme-worthy Halloween costumes, and inside, protagonist Ellen Ripley in her Reebok Alien Stompers. The most famous sneakers made just for a film until Marty McFly’s Nike Air Mag came along three years later, the RBK Stomper has been treated to the original Weyland look we remember from 1986.
