Original article published December 9th, 2024: The Air Jordan 1 Low OG has been the highlight of Jordan Brand’s Lunar New Year series for a few years running now, with the last few “Year Of The …” releases coming in limited quantities and therefore fetching considerable resale prices. As the Jumpman’s “Year Of The Snake” lineup for 2025 continues to emerge, we just got hit with a first look at the Jordan 1 Low OG on tap.
Subjectively speaking, your opinion on the “Year Of The Snake” Jordan 1 Low hinges entirely on what you want out of a thematic release. If you’re of the belief that Lunar New Year shoes should be overtly embellished, these might not be for you. However, if you prioritize versatility and ambiguity, the shoe manages to mix in ample Zodiac significance while holding its own as a year-round option.
Although hard to spot from a distance, the design centers around a texture swap to snakeskin material. The tongue and Swoosh both appear in patterned, reptillian-esque nylon, complemented by an added black leather snakeskin hangtag. An iridescent Wings logo adorns the backtab, while the rest of the shoe cleans up in simple white and grey leather.
