The Vans checkerboard print has been an iconic symbol of California skate culture since 1982 when the silver screen first said ‘Aloha’ to Mr. Hand. In fact, there’s such a strong relationship between checkered Vans (specifically, the Slip-On) and Sean Penn’s Jeff Spicoli from Fast Times at Ridgemont High that it’s surprising that model isn’t included in this pack. It all works out quite nicely, though, because this forces a different way of accessing history with the latest Van Doren Series drop including black, white and red designs for the Vans Era, Old Skool and Half Cab. Indeed, each pair has a throwback vibe in its own right, so click in to see them in greater detail, and be on the lookout because they should be arriving at Vans retailers as we speak.
