Nike Celebrates “Air Max Day”

Nike Celebrates “Air Max Day”

Nike Air Max Day Summary

The Nike Air Max 1 changed the sneaker world forever when it debuted back on March 26th, 1987. This year, Nike is making an official holiday out of that day with the release of the Nike Air Max 1 “Air Max Day”, a reprisal of the original white/sport red flavor of the Tinker Hatfield silhouette that first showed the world visible Air. That release, which features a unique 3/26 tongue tag and some of the more yellowed faux-vintage soles we’ve ever seen, actually just came and went as a special pre-order on Nikestore. But the celebration doesn’t stop there.

The team at Nike Sportswear has also rolled out a new Nike Air Max mini-site that serves as a quick history lesson in bubble bottomed sneakers. Included in the site are plenty of vintage ads from the Air Max lineage, which help tell the story of the sneakers’ evolution from 1987 till now (Take a look at the rare extra-big bubble Air Max 1 included in the images). Continue reading to see the full gallery and remember to wear your #AIRMAX on 3/26 and celebrate this timeless Nike technology with the rest of the world.
