Nike Increases Prices For The Kobe 5 Protro “Year Of The Mamba”

The fifth model of the Kobe legacy will be back in a big way in 2025, kicking off with a “Year Of The Mamba” Kobe 5 creation that not only honors the legacy of Kobe, but recognizes the annual Chinese Zodiac.

Expected to release in two colorways, the Kobe 5 “Year of The Mamba” is easily distinguised by the golden mamba snake that slithers across the upper of the model, wrapping itself tightly around the Swoosh logo. Rather than being a screened-on TPU, the upper garnishes and Swoosh logo are fixed via an embroidery for a truly elegant feel.

Golden accents continue via the Kobe sheath logo on the tongue as well as the spirited emblem on the insole that notes the Black Mamba’s two iconic jersey numbers inside a snake arranged as an infinity logo. The same can be seen in the alternate red version, also dropping Spring 2025.

With the upscale, premium execution comes a slight bump in price; while the Kobe 5 Protro is typically priced at $190, the Year Of The Mamba editions will be priced at $200 — a $10 bump.

This Kobe 5 release is still projected to sell out quickly to the masses on February 8th, 2025; see the official retailer images below for the most accurate depiction of the shoes.
