Nike Pays Homage To Huarache Heritage With Woven Uppers

Nike Pays Homage To Huarache Heritage With Woven Uppers

When Tinker Hatfield created the Nike Air Huarache in 1991, he set out to create a slip on running model that had the ease and comfort of traditional South American sandals that went by the same name. The connection is vague, and the overall model relied heavily on another inspiration – neoprene waterskiing booties to maintain the aesthetic that’s now deemed a classic today. The latest Nike Huarache may be referencing back to tribal origins with this new woven toebox construction, as a unique graphic pattern showcases the new material’s diversity in Hyper Pink, Wolf Grey, and Black. While we wish that Nike added flyknit to the design, the woven material still looks mesh in origin in order to maintain added breathability for the warmer months. Be sure to check out more photos below and stay tuned for stateside availability in the coming days.
