The current augmented reality trend in the tech world has finally made it to sneakers. ASICS parent company Onitsuka Tiger has teamed up with fashion label Anrealage to create the first augmented reality sneaker that when paired with a special app brings the shoe to life. The smartphone app allows you to scan the black logo graphic on top of each shoe, which then becomes animated on screen highlighting the Anrealage logo and plays music by the Japanese band Sakanaction. You can see the shoe in action in the short example video below. While admittedly a bit underwhelming, the Anrealage x Onitsuka Tiger Monte Z is clearly the first step in AR sneakers and hints that things could get much more interesting in the future.
