The 1982 World Cup kicked off a true cultural renaissance for Spain, so adidas Consortium and retailer Sivadescalzo are teaming up for a brand-new Sobakov Boost inspired by the colors of the tournament’s mascot: the jovial cartoon orange Naranjito. The most noticeable tribute to the chattering citrus fruit is unquestionably the midfoot, which features bold orange suede stripes above a green mesh base. The rest of the upper is split between a blue leather heel and a black mesh forefoot, both of which are spanned by white contrast stitching to accent the design’s unique lines. The large white tongue provides a nod to classic fútbol footwear, while the midsole fuses running and soccer stylings with a thick chunk of visible black Boost in the heel and a wavy textured gum rubber on the midfoot/forefoot. These Sobakov Boosts will release at Sivadescalzo accompanied by a special soccer jersey on May 9th, and will then roll out to global Consortium stockists more than a month later on June 15th. The retail price is set at $180 USD. Get a detailed look at the homage-packed shoes below, and stay tuned to our Sneaker Release Dates page for updates on other upcoming Trefoil Brand collaborations.
