Michael Le Widely regarded as one of the best collaborators New Balance has seen in recent memory — next to JJJJound, No Vacancy Inn, and the like — Stray Rats and their specific breed of design has never fallen short of authenticity, with their own 990v3s standing out for that very same reason. Set to outdo themselves, the Miami-grown brand is officially teaming up with DC Comics to fully realize their own Joker inspirations under the fitting theme of “REPRISE FINALE.” As such, the pair follows quite closely to the dark alternative of the original set as it boasts loud tones reminiscent of the villain’s most signature of appearances. Sultry purples play a supporting role as it lines the black mesh of the toe box while adjacent lies a more full display of bright green; then, laces take on a vibrant neon orange, a quick nod to the accenting layering pieces of the criminal mad man’s three-piece suit. Insoles now, for more overt connection, cover in bold graphics as the prankster scowls right from within the right foot while more subtle cobranding etches on the opposite.
