With leaks of the new Purple Box, Nike SB’s intentions are evidently resolute, getting the sub-label back on track with collaborations aplenty and inline models equally eclectic. 2019 saw to a comeback sparked with the help of Diamond Supply and Supreme alongside releases from the many skateboarding institutions who deserve it — the latest of this latter grouping is none other than StrangeLove Skateboards, the wildly imaginative California purveyor whose Dunk Low bears their personality in spades. Effeminately colored and materialized, the pair seems to line up with Valentine’s Day themes, turning romance tangible with suede uppers of bright, pastel pink, unders of a seductive velvet fabrication, and accents of the holiday’s signature red hearts. Mixed in are visual hits iconic to the imprint stylistically, dressing the heel wraps with embroidered designs of a jester-esque skull; one insole features similar artwork, though it sprawls much grander with conjoined Cupids stripped down to their skeletons. Elsewhere, the other footbed marks with a board wrapped with ribbon and ending in a rose, tongues stamp with the shop’s namesake, and insoles flourish with a confetti graphics. For a detailed look at all that, peep just below, and then keep an eye out for the coming months as these are sure to release relatively soon.
