Don C Lends A Hand With The Nike KD 12 “All-Star”

Don C Lends A Hand With The Nike KD 12 “All-Star”

Had it not been for the unfortunate ruptured achilles injury that Kevin Durant suffered during the 2019 NBA finals, the chances of the 2-time champion performing in this year’s All-Star Weekend would have been very likely. While we won’t be seeing the elite scoring forward battle it out on the floor in Chicago, we can still feel the spirit of his presence through his sneakers as Nike Basketball, in collaboration with Don C, has decided to create a special iteration that commemorates the three-day festivities.

At its core, these KD 12s serve as a 50/50 homage to KD’s playing career, in addition to the flag of the Windy City. In terms of palette, a majority of its upper sees through to a light blue tone – a somewhat similar look to Don C’s upcoming Air Force 1 “All Star” option – and is unified with subtle notes of red bordered onto Swoosh logos and sock liners. Embroidered onto the tongue comes 11 stars which not only are symbolic of his total number of All-Star appearances, but reflective of the main elements of the aforementioned city banner. The heels sport an almost “spiz’ike”-type pattern that houses the #7 – Durant’s new uniform number with the Brooklyn Nets – as well as copper-accented lace tips to represent the throwback jerseys that the Washington Wizards wore during his childhood days growing up Prince George’s County, Maryland. Capture a closer look at the pair here ahead, and find these dropping on Nike.com and select retailers sometime towards the middle of February.
