While Nike has touted it’s recently unveiled Air Max 2090 as the “current shoe of the future,” the Air Max 720 is arguably still ahead of its time even after one year on the market. And while the lifestyle silhouette’s in-line and collaborative releases with Odell Beckham Jr. have garnered the futuristic look some widespread acceptance, their recrafted MX-720-818 counterpart may cause some head-scratching. With uppers inspired by space suits, the newest take on the AM720 takes the bold statement of its plump, full-length Air unit a step further through quilted assembly and reflective detailing. The two-tone nature of this forthcoming take is obvious at first glance as a pristine white coats the upper half while a pale blue the bottom half, but further inspection of this MX-720-818 reveals more. Orange “NIKE AIR” branding animates the tongue and contrasts the numerous Nike logos etched onto the mudguard in a slight grey only discernible at specific angles that testify to the the model’s crafty design approach.
