Jovani Hernandez Unveiled back in February alongside The Swoosh’s plans for the (now-postponed) Tokyo Olympics, the Nike Space Hippie 03 is the brand’s next big sustainability bet. And while the silhouette appears straight from the future, it launches on July 3rd.
Among the tallest of the four inaugural Space Hippie models, the 03 is equipped with enhanced utility omitted from its counterparts. Consequently, it’s ostensibly the most limited because of the scarcity of the exterior FlyEase mechanism at the heel. The FastFit tightening system across the midfoot – which boasts a bold “Laser Crimson”-like hue and upcycled materials – further enables easy-on and off wear. While clad in grey, the sock-like, Space Waste Yarn upper equally indulges in Nike’s sustainability efforts as it uses approximately 85% polyester recycled from plastic bottles, clothing, and yarn scraps. Underfoot, the chambray-reminiscent Crater Foam sole unit – which is rumored to appear on the Waffle Racer early next year – simultaneously creates a stable ride and unique aesthetic. Insoles are made from ZoomX foam scraps, surplus from the game-changing NEXT% line.
The Space Hippie 03 debuts on July 3rd exclusively on Nike SNKRS for $180 USD. In the meantime, enjoy official images of the new silhouette here below.
