WTAPS Delivers A Heartfelt Vans Collaboration Surrounding Its Love Of “Waffles”

Though near two years since their last collaboration with Vans, WTAPS firmly confirms — not only in words but actions — that they’re “still in love with Waffles.” Tetsu Nishiyama, founder and designer, recounts his beginnings with the Anaheim label, his roots in the now unfortunately defunct “SYNDICATE” line, and his love for all things Vans — every memory serving to express the latest collaborative capsule’s personal significance.

Composed of three silhouettes delivered in two colorways each, the collection is objectively quite diverse, more so than even the flame-clad releases before it. Old Skools start the range strong with understated aesthetics, one that effectively sets the tone for the rest through its black and white colorways. Neutral at nearly all points, the upper — whose suede construction proffers skate-ready durability, dresses entirely in its respective hue; heels are then brandished with WTVUA embroidery while the soles’ contrasted backdrops usher in even further branded text. Slip-Ons and Eras appropriately follow suit in appearance, the design simply translated to better fit their distinct shapes.

Grab a detailed look at each of the upcoming pairs here, and if you’re fortunate enough to live in Japan, expect a release at a select number of stores very soon.

In other news, a new ComfyCush Vans Era tweaks with stacked soles.
