The Nike Kobe 5 Protro “5x Champ” Releases Tomorrow

With the release of the Kobe 5 Big Stage in only a few hours, Nike starts strong a celebration known better as “Mamba Week.” Kicked off on the athlete’s birthday, the brand is setting sail a number of commemorative gifts — some old, some new — with the next on the list being the Kobe 5 Protro “5x Champ.”

While the aforementioned fused two older releases for something brand new, the 5x Champ opts for a different approach, using the pre-existing to infuse some nostalgia and bring up more positive memories. The colorway, which acts a nod to not only the Black Mamba himself but the team he represented for many years, dresses up in signature Lakers colors. Purple dyes the majority of the cracked leather construction while matted taping overlays along the toe and eye stay; bright gold line work etches atop the edge of said panels alongside the swoosh, and part of the loud liner print. Silver metallic then finishes the Bryant’s three-pronged logo while the heel brandishes louder with yellow calligraphy.

Grab another look at these right here, and if you’d like to own a piece of history, they’ll be releasing tomorrow at Nike SNKRS come 10am.
