Following the success of last year’s batch of New Balance 550s, Aimé Leon Dore and the Boston-based brand will drop two more offerings of the 1989 model on April 16th. Prior to then, New Balance already has plans in action to build upon their mainstay line of 550s. The Intelligent Choice will now deliver a new multi-color arrangement that deviates from the rest of its past releases.
With familiar ’80s basketball shoe color schemes and other narrow yet versatile color palettes among its roster, the New Balance 550 lets loose for its latest mainstay model. Most of the uppers are in white leather but navy seams and stitches animate these simple panels, with the dark blue shade also tinting the tongue and the NB-branded heel. The heel is where most of the fun takes place, as green dominates the ankle of the design while a vibrant red overlay piece is applied to the hindfoot. Multi-color schemes continue onto the outsole, which uses chunks of green, black, and yellow that are extended onto the midsole. Red N logos bordered by Navy stitches and yellow embroidered 550 symbols complete the color-clad design as the final branded touches.
Take a closer look at the New Balance 550 below and look for these to hit retailers soon.
