Jovani Hernandez The Nike Waffle One has been ridiculed for being a “budget” version of sacai‘s takes on vintage Nike Running sneakers, but that hasn’t impeded it from garnering support from savvy and casual consumers alike. And while the low-top silhouette has had a penchant for subtle styles, it’s recently indulged in an ultra-vibrant “Hyper Pink/University Red/Racer Blue/Hyper Crimson” just before summer’s end.
As is the case with its standard build, mesh bases and their suede and synthetic leather overlays assume their traditional placements. Near-fluorescent shades of scarlet and rose take over much of the upper, being ever-so-slightly contrasted by the mustard-colored laces and “Racer Blue” accents visible through the breathable and lightweight mesh underlay. Sole units, however, switch things up, boasting a protruding plastic heel clip in the punchy blue, while the old-school midsole and outsole combination opt for a simple beige makeup.
