With Kyrie Irving currently sitting out the season, forfeiting his salary in favor of his personal choice to not get vaccinated, his Nike footwear has been flying under the radar since earlier this Fall. This is a bit of a surprise as his new signature shoes are often a major topic for the brand’s basketball business during the fall/winter seasons of the year, but his newest shoe, the Kyrie Infinity aka Kyrie 8, debuted at retail with minimal fanfare. It certainly didn’t help that he himself dragged the shoe on social media.
If you preferred the Kyrie 7 over the current model, the newly released Kyrie Flytrap 5 might be more your speed. The lower-priced line has lived alongside the Kyrie signature model for five installments, but the latest silhouette seems to draw the most connection to its partner as the zig-zag detail on the forefoot of the outsole mimcs that of the 7. The DNA carryover can’t be denied, and with forefoot Zoom Air, the performance aspects will likely be nearly on par as well.
Currently four colorways of the lower-priced basketball shoe are known, with the black/white colorway available right now directly through Nike for $90.
