One of the most highly-touted basketball shoes ever created is getting a much-anticipated sequel soon. Nike Basketball’s Greater Than series, an arsenal of footwear engineered specifically for elite cutters, runners, and jumpers, took the hoops world by storm for its high-tech package of cushioning. The GT Cut in particular was rather popular among players across all positions and skill levels, largely for its cushioning stack that featured a full-length Zoom Air Strobel above fine-tuned traction pattern.
Later in 2022, Nike is prepared to release the sequel – the GT Cut 2. While official specs have yet to be revealed, we can assume that the same full-length Zoom Strobel will return as it is the chief reason why the GT Cut was such a hit in the first place. This marvel of innovation first debuted on Kevin Durant’s Nike KD 12; this cushion system removed extraneous material allowing the foot to sit directly on the Zoom unit.
Three colorways are confirmed to release, revealed here for the first time. The design of the exterior is quite different from its predecessor as it features a unique pattern laid onto an upper, with raised surfaces targeted at specific zones. A brand new molded heel is also introduced, while a Smear Traction 1.0 pattern, alluding to how the soles of the shoe can smear across the hardwood during hard cuts, appears at the fore-foot.
Full release details will likely be announced soon; see the official images of three upcoming colorways below, and stay tuned as at least eight total colorways are due before 2022’s end.
