From their work on The North Face Purple Label to their own mainline collections, nanamica never fails to find the balance between function and design. And this is true not just of the Japanese label’s apparel, as they often take the same approach with every one of their collaborative sneakers. The Converse ALL STAR, their latest project, has been given just as much care, upgraded with waterproof, GORE-TEX fabrics.
Similar to their take on the PUMA Suede, nanamica’s Converse ALL STAR is largely faithful to the original design. Even in colorway, the collaboration is heavily understated: a navy upper is paired with white midsoles and laces, the latter of which can be swapped out for grey-colored strings. And besides the “ALL STAR” patch along the lower heel and “GORE-TEX” tab at the collar, branding is extremely minimal, with the iconic Converse patch tinted to the point of being almost entirely obscured.
Retailing for ¥22,000 Yen, the nanamica x Converse ALL STAR is expected to release on nanamica.com as well as their retail locations later this March. It’s unconfirmed whether or not pairs will be made available in the US.
