LeBron James and Nike are near synonymous with one another, having worked together for the last two decades. And in celebration of their 20th Anniversary, the two are once again bringing back the signature sneaker that started it all: the Air Zoom Generation.
A timely revival, the Nike Air Zoom Generation’s return is wrought with many an exciting release. Alongside the actual “First Game” colorway, the signature is expected to arrive in “Court Purple” — also commonly referred to as the “Purple Suede” — one of the silhouette’s most sought after PEs. Revealed by LeBron James himself, the colorway is finally being made available to the public, doing so five years after its on-court appearances in 2018.
The shoes were originally designed by former Nike designer Ben Kirschner, who created this PE exclusively for LeBron James and his final game with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Kirschner most recently designed a special custom for Kyrie Irving for All-Star 2023 inspired by his Native American roots.
Looking at the official images, the 2023 Air Zoom Generation “Court Purple” is a slight departure from its Player Exclusive counterpart. Whereas the latter features a velvety construction through the entire upper, this pair opts for what looks to be both nubuck and roughout paneling. Elsewhere, though, the design is relatively exact, featuring icy blue bottoms and glossy trims along the forefoot as well as heel.
At the time of writing this, a firm release date has not yet been revealed. In the meantime, take an official look at the forthcoming release ahead.
