Both of Nike’s Metcon and Free technologies have run rife throughout the Beaverton brand’s training archives. Teaming up for its fourth iteration that sees the paring Nike Free’s flexibility at the forefoot with widened space at the heel for stability, the Nike Free Metcon 4 now undergoes a structured reimagining tooled for the needs of Russell Wilson’s off-season regimen.
Among a number of departures from its typical chain link mesh upper, the model’s Huarache-inspired heel strap has been ditched for a structured glossy heel counter cast in an accompanying “Anthracite” while a thicker mesh throughout the ensemble comes reinforced by a rubberized TPU overlay which houses its lace loops. The rigid, separated aesthetic of the barefoot-inspired Nike Free midsole remains untouched, furthering the silhouette’s midnight tincture with a clad pitch-dark color match. Elsewhere, the added overlay at the heel comes embossed with Wilson’s signature Nike insignia in a heavily darkened navy blue tint in tandem with the vertical Swoosh lining the cushioning system underfoot.
While we await further release details, in the meantime enjoy official images of the Nike Free Metcon 4 “Russell Wilson” below.
