Michael Le Towards the tail end of last year, it was confirmed that the Nike Kobe 4 Protro was on its way back for Summer 2023. And while big news in and of itself, that was one piece of the whole story, as it was later revealed that the signature would be honoring the life of the late Gigi Bryant.
Following leaks back in February, official images of the upcoming Nike Kobe 4 Protro “Mambacita” have finally surfaced. Releasing in time for her birthday, the colorway incorporates several nods to the Mambacita herself: alongside featuring said nickname across the insoles and packaging, the pair writes “Gigi” atop both the shoe’s spine as well as its aglets. What’s more, Gigi Bryant’s jersey number stamps the heel in a gilded finish, matching the Kobe logo emblazoned onto the tongue. The rest of the shoe is mainly comprised of neutrals, with black Swooshes, laces, and plaids accenting a predominantly white-colored base.
