During the unbreakable mid-to-late 1990s era of Nike Basketball, it was difficult for any one model to truly stand out due to the overall high standard of strength in design. The Adjust Force didn’t boast a massive full-length Air unit nor did it billboard a giant AIR lettering on the upper, but it did feature a completely removable mid-foot strap that could be interchanged with other colors. That’s exactly how the Adjust Force became an icon, and with its official reintroduction into the market in 2022 with the help of Yoon Ahn of AMBUSH, Nike is looking to stamp a flag once more with this bold and rather questionable modification.
The Air Adjust Force you see here is no longer a basketball shoe, but an open-toed sandal to be worn during the warmer months. Certainly designed with women in mind, this Air Adjust Force Sandal features an exaggerated molded midsole, platformed to give a boost in height, A padded in-step covering the toes do supply a bit of a luxury brand look, but the Swoosh is keeping to the Adjust Force’s whimsical personalty with the removable straps. They’re slightly altered to better fit the mold (smaller Swoosh, lower height), but the primary ingredients are all there.
Two colorways of the Air Adjust Force Sandal/Slide are coming soon, so stay tuned for a release on the SNKRS App – these might be the women’s footwear hit that Nike’s been waiting for.
In other retro basketball news, the Galaxy Foamposites are confirmed to return in 2024.
