Over the years The Swoosh has toyed around with the aesthetic of color-changing details underneath the light and warmth of UV rays. While seldom in their offerings, the Beaverton-based brand is kicking off Summer 2023 with an expressive collection of footwear infused with shifting tones.
Embarking upon a Navy, golden yellow and orange palette, the Nike Blazer Mid ’77 remains removed from the typical color blocking of its upcoming contemporaries with a dominant crisp white contradiction. Save the dark navy blue quarter overlay, bright orange tongue tab and equally vibrant yellow collar lining, the upper’s remaining real estate assumes a clad-colorless ensemble. Enacting a necessary contrast alongside the suede grey mudguard and cream-colored sole unit, the model’s UV-sensitive materials touch down along the mid-foot Swoosh which shifts between an ivory cobalt blue hue.
Bearing an all-new sunshine motif breaking through a zipper, the latter inclusion at the heel tab and atop the pair’s silver cellophane packaging signals the beginnings of a UV-inspired collection spanning the brand’s lifestyle archives – which is set to include both the Air Force 1 Low and Nike Dunk Low. While we await further release details, in the meantime enjoy official images of the grade school-exclusive Nike Blazer Mid ’77 “UV Color-Changing” below.
In other news, James Harden’s eighth signature silhouette with the 3-Stripes – the adidas Harden Vol. 8 – was recently revealed in first-look imagery.
