Jared Ebanks Initially intended to be a transitionary model as the Beaverton brand placed the finishing touches on Michael Jordan’s first signature silhouette, the Nike Air Ship has since carved out its own place in Nike Inc. history. Now officially falling under the Jumpman banner, the Air Jordan Air Ship now readies its latest “Tech Grey” ensemble for Wednesday’s release.
Ushered into a revitalization thanks to a number of collaborative efforts, the once-bygone silhouette rests on its neutral laurels as a crisp white treatment consumes the near entirety of the tumbled leather upper and midsole unit. Vintage vibes are ascertained via the cream-dipped tongue construction that offers a stark contrast to the sea of colorless shades. Finished with a greyscale brushstroke, both the “Neutral Grey” accented Air Jordan 1 ’85 and Air Jordan 1 Low from 2021 now receive a contemporary cousin with light grey hues filling the Air Ship’s shaggy suede mid-foot Swoosh and heel collar while a darker tone closes out the tread underfoot.
