The New Balance Protection Pack Expands Its Network With The 1906R

With its unfinished and uncut look, the New Balance “Protection Pack” has expanded greatly since its initial launch of the 2002R “Rain Cloud” back in August of 2021. The success of that release empowered the brand to drop nearly a dozen other colorways, all of which were fairly well received by the public. Now, New Balance has its eyes set on another silhouette on its roster — the 1906R.

Originally debuting in the year 2010, the New Balance 1906 returned to market in 2022 attached with the “R” to signify the decision to swap the original full-length gel for the heel-only cushioning platform. The same midsole can be seen in the aforementioned 2002R. Already dropping in a variety of in-line styles and collaborations with the likes of Aimé Leon Dore and COMME des GARÇONS HOMME, the New Balance 1906R is already well placed on the radar of sneaker fanatics, but those blips are about to resonate a bit more with the Protection Pack styles.

Official brand images of an all-white and all-black colorway have appeared, which likely means a release is coming soon. As you can clearly see, the unfinished styling persists via the intricate upper layer, establishing the aesthetic more so than the 2002R. Stay tuned for release details.
