A First Teaser Of The Corteiz x Nike Air Trainer Huarache Is Here

Updated February 2nd, 2024: Taking the world by storm in 2023 was Corteiz and their introductory foray into the world of sneaker collaborations. Their trio of Air Max 95s, considered by many to be among the best shoe drops of 2023 (if not the best), has paved the way for more projects with the Swoosh moving forward — and we just got a first teaser at what’s coming in 2024.

In these catalog images shared by Brendan Dunne, it appears that the London-based streetwear imprint will be releasing another trio of Nike classics from the 1990s — the Air Trainer Huarache to be exact. Three monochromatic colorways look to be in the works, each anchored by a camoflage pattern that covers the interior bootie of the Tinker Hatfield-design shoe from 1992.

These catalog images may not be an accurate depiction of the final product, so stay tuned for updates as we learn more.

Corteiz is headquartered in London (Lundun if you’re its founder), but its Nike Air Max 95 collaboration had a global effect. The partnership is rumored to continue at least into 2024, reworking the long-overshadowed Air Trainer Huarache.

According to Complex’s Brendan Dunne, sources close to the matter shared that “multiple” Corteiz x Nike Air Trainer Huarache styles were in the works for Fall 2024, adding to an already jam-packed schedule for the Oregon-based conglomerate. The silhouette is a visual and technological departure from the Air Max series with which Corteiz’s founder Clint is enamored, but its aesthetic fits in with much of the British street fashion brand’s apparel. Furthermore, Clint posted a photo of himself in a “Dominican Republic” makeover of the cross-trainer from 2003 back in October.

Recently, Amsterdam’s Patta was linked to an “Air Huarache”-branded running sneaker that features the Pegasus 40’s sole unit. Next year doesn’t mark a milestone anniversary for Tinker Hatfield’s iconic series of footwear, but it’s possible the brand is revisiting some of its 1990s silhouettes in response to consumer demands for vintage product. Nike continues to innovate with propositions like the Alphafly 3 marathon shoe, but 2023 saw competitors experience notable success from retro offerings. The Air Trainer Huarache, last seen in the mid-2010s, would be a welcomed addition to the conversation, and Corteiz is sure to bring an ere of “cool” to not only the product, but also campaign material and rollout.

Netizens who follow Corteiz and its founder closely have appeared on various comment sections across social media, sharing that Clint has already shot down Dunne’s initial report. No evidence was available at the time of this writing, so we hope the response was simply a way to keep things under wraps. In any case, stay tuned for updates on the possible collaboration, and check out the Air Jordan Fall 2024 Release Preview in the meantime.
