Giannis Antetokounmpo’s humble beginnings are well documented. Before taking the league by storm, the future NBA star had to share basketball sneakers with his four brothers, including now Milwaukee Bucks teammate Thanasis.
During the 2019 NBA All-Star Game, Giannis wore a pair of Red/White Kobe 4s with handwriting reading “Thanasis, thanks for sharing,” a throwback to their pre-NBA days and an acknowledgement of how far they’ve both come. Now equipped with a Nike sponsorship and his own signature line, the soon to be eight time all-star brings this theme over to the Giannis Immortality 3 ahead of this year’s ASG matchup on February 18th.
Naturally, the shoes boast a Red/White color scheme to match the Kobe 4s Giannis wore five years ago, as well as the Eastern Conference’s traditional jersey color. In a rare but familiar move, the left and right shoes are inversely colored, switching from red to white on nearly every element except the laces. While Giannis wrote “Thanks for sharing” on the toe of the Kobe 4s, it appears split in two parts on the heel tabs on this pair.
Mark your calendars for this release on February 16th as Giannis, Nike, and the NBA universe gear up for All-Star festivities next month. In the meantime, enjoy official images below.
