The Nike Air Force 1 “1972” Honors The Past With Modern Styling

One can’t move into the future without remembering the past. That’s the central theme with this Air Force 1 “1972”, which appears to honor its roots through colors and messaging while applying modern day practices with logo design and materials.

Featuring a color palette straight out of Blue Ribbon Sports’ earliest days, this Air Force 1 champions that classic white/royal/red combination with a variety of design choices that include a “1972” logo style closer to what we see in present-day campaign iconography. The use of jersey mesh on the Swoosh call back to the brand’s roots in sports, with alternate blocking on the medial and lateral positions adding contemporary flair. Finally, an elliptical plaque featuring the iconic Nike check sits at the tongue, completing the modern aesthetic.
