Rare Air indeed.

Only Michael Jordan, Mark Parker, and Mark Smith Own This Air Jordan 4 “Laser” Sample

The rarity surrounding 2005’s Air Jordan 4 “Laser” Pack seems to grow every year, with whatever remaining deadstock pairs being snatched up by collectors, or mercilessly crumbling due to age. It sure is time for the Jumpman to revisit this memorable two-pair collection, emphasized only by Mark Smith himself revealing a rare unreleased version of the shoe he helped create.

During the heyday of the Swoosh’s lasering days, Mark Smith applied this cutting edge tech to some of the most sought after shoes ever created. Primarily used on the global launch of the Air Jordan 20, the laser-etched pattern acted as an illustrative mosaic of Michael Jordan’s legacy in the game of basketball and the history of sneakers. The Air Jordan 4 was chosen as the vehicle on the Retro front, arriving in the OG-inspired “Fire Red” and a second that remixed the classic Chicago colors.

The key difference between this Air Jordan 4 sample and the two made-for-retail versions is the thicker laser-etching that we’ve seen in in the Mark Smith Laser Air Force 1s and even the Entourage pairs. Alongside the shoes is a custom shoe-box and tissue to match, made just for Michael Jordan, former Nike CEO Mark Parker, and Mark Smith himself.
